Services & Supports

Tokomairiro Waiora is a kaupapa Māori health and social service provider supporting individuals and whānau across the Clutha rohe.

Our services are designed with Māori in mind but are available to everyone, and all support is completely free. Alongside connecting whānau with other services throughout the rohe, Tokomairiro Waiora directly provides the following services and supports.

Whanau Ora Kāitūwhana Service

 

“Whānau Ora puts whānau and families at the centre of the services and support they need, to build on their strengths and achieve their aspirations.”

 

Kaitūwhana work directly with whaiora and their whānau, connecting them with relevant services, supporting them to set and achieve their own goals, and empowering them to improve their overall wellbeing.

Nurse-led Clinics 

 

A Registered Nurse from Awarua Whānau Services runs a clinic once a fortnight, alternating between our sites in Milton and Balclutha.

Ethos Psychology 

 

A Registered Psychologist from Ethos Psychology sees our whaiora on a weekly basis, alternating between our sites in Milton and Balclutha.

Mirimiri

 

Traditional Māori healing massage. A holistic bodywork practice focusing on balancing the tinana (body), hinengaro (mind), and wairua (spirit) through physical touch, pressure, and energy work. Releases tension, improves circulation, and promotes overall well-being.

Māori Oranga Hinengaro Services

 

A kaupapa Māori approach to wellbeing, underpinned by Tā Mason Durie’s Te Whare Tapa Wha model. Within this service, tangata whaiora are holistically supported on their journey to wellbeing.

Kaumatua Jams & Taurite Tū:

 

On Tuesday mornings at 10am, over at Te Whare Puawai o Tokomairaro on Spenser Street, we run a weekly group for our kaumatua.This group starts with Taurite Tū, a kaupapa Māori strength and balance exercise programme specially designed for Māori aged 50+ and their whānau. Following this, Kaumatua Jams involves a guitar, waiata and lot of fun. The morning then ends with a delicious kai.

Rangatahi Programme

 

Rangatahi are taken on weekly group adventures. They are also provided with one on one support and guidance when they need it.
