Whānau Ora Workers

One on one sessions with whānau to discuss and develop health plans to address needs. Planned approach to achieve steps to a healthier lifestyle. Information and resources. Co-ordinating community services and agencies. Te Kakano Nurse led clinics. Links to Drug and Alcohol Counselling and Mental Health practices. Links to Social Service Agencies. Assistance and Support

Advocacy and support attending hospital or doctor or providers, to support you and your whānau. Assist and work with you to make responsible choices that impact positively on your lifestyle.

Health Services

Oranga Hinengaro (Māori Mental Health) Service that provides a Kaupapa Māori support for mental well-being, focusing on whānau and hāpori community, using traditional healing (Rongoā Māori) and addressing issues like addiction, anxiety, and depression through a holistic approach.

Shearing workers health checks

 

Held annually (February – March) in conjunction with local shearing contractors to check the health and wellbeing of shearing industry workers.

Mirimiri / Massage Service.

Uses traditional Māori healing massage, a holistic bodywork practice focusing on balancing the tinana (body), hinengaro (mind), and wairua (spirit) through physical touch, pressure, and energy work to release tension, improve circulation, and promote overall well-being.
Clinics in Milton, availability by appointment.

Social Services and Programmes

Whanau Ora Kāitūwhana Services: – aimed at enhancing the well-being of entire families whānau by focusing on their collective strengths and aspirations. Empowers whānau to define and pursue their own goals for a better future, supported by integrated, wrap-around services.

We provide:

Rangatahi Youth Programme – A tamariki and rangatahi programme that supports young people aged 13 to 24. The programme focuses on social and financial wellbeing, life skills such goal planning, self-confidence, and behavioural support helping young people build resilience, independence, and brighter futures. Also, connections to skills for employment.

Taurite Tū – a strength and balance wellness programme designed for Maori aged 50 plus, and their whanau, using traditional Maori techniques.

Kaumatua Jams – music for social enjoyment (a good old sing along). Social get togethers offer a wide range of mental, physical and social benefits.
